Shipping: Packaged with Love and Care
When I first entered the online selling market seven years ago, I was terrified and was completely lost. My pictures were grotesque and my packaging was simply awful. But along the way, I met my mentor. Her name was Trina L. She took me under her wing and showed me the light. I never did get the chance to express my appreciation to her which I regret to this day.
Here, I am sharing with you her advices and my input on packaging. When you ship an item, please package it with love and care. Keep it simple but sweet. Opening a package is like opening a birthday present. You want the buyer to feel special when he(s) opens her package. I remember vividly coming across a feedback of a buyer to her seller years ago:
“You just threw everything into the package like you did not care. In addition, it was full of cat hair.” Please do not be this type of seller!!
Here are the supplies I use to package my items:
*Twine or yarn
*Colored tissue paper
*A thank you note with my name on it
*A poly mailer
That's it. You can find these supplies at the 99 cents store or at The Dollar Tree store, with the exception of the poly mailer. Make these stores your friend. Poly mailers can be found on Amazon, eBay, or other in-person or online store. I cannot afford Michael's. There is no need to break the bank.
So you have your supplies and ready to ship. Here are my criteria for shipping:
*Fold the item neatly.
*Inspect the item carefully for cleanliness. If the item is flawed, it should be disclosed to the buyer.
*Wrap it up with colored tissue paper.
*Tie it up with a bow.
*Slip a simple “thank you” note on top. Nothing fancy, like a card or anything.
*Put the package into a poly mailer and apply another layer of tape over the tape from the poly mailer.
*Apply tape on top of the shipping label. You want to have peace of mind that the package will arrive to its new home safe and sound.
Whola!! The package is ready to head to its new home.
Please ship the package in a timely manner. In the event there is a delay, inform the buyer immediately. Let the buyer know you care. In the art of business, it is critical to have customers come back to you.
