“The pink petals defining the joyous bouquet on our oversize square silk scarf are that of oleanders, which Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853–1890) regarded as life-affirming flowers for the way they bloomed "inexhaustibly." In this vibrant still life from August 1888, the artist immortalized an arrangement of oleanders in a majolica jug, which also appears in other still lifes made during his time in Arles. Nearby, Van Gogh has symbolically depicted a copy of Emile Zola's novel La joie de vivre”
