Not to challenge you or be a nuisance, but not much seems vintage about this. Can you put up a photo of the inside tag? Or something else inside the dress - perhaps the hem - that shows how vintage clothes were made. Thanks! I'm interested in getting it; otherwise I wouldn't make you bother. ❤
No problem at all! I’ll snap some photos when I get home. I have sold women’s and children’s vintage from the 40’s through the 80’s for the past 14 years so pretty sure that this one is! :) I’ll send you the pics later this evening!
@eartha_kitten I just added photos to the listing with the hem and inside seams as well as the union tag.
We've sold antiques and vintage clothing for decades in my family. I'm a licensed appraiser. There were a couple of details in the dress that were only done in the better stores or a couple of different cities in the US and abroad. All across the US ready-to-wear, especially for children, was the same few styles you see again and again. Not like today. -
Sorry I wasn't finished when I hit send....hang on......
I was hoping to see the union tag as proof but also the ways machines stitched back then can serve as proof if the tag is missing. I am really impressed with this dress and some of the others as well. Excellent example of a vintage dress bought probably in a local dress store, not Woolworth's or Murphy's. [That's what we had in PA.] It's a beautiful dress in excellent condition. Very nice!! Thank you. ❤
@eartha_kitten Wow! Thank you for all of that interesting info. And hello to a fellow vintage lover 👋😊 I closed down my vintage clothing shop a few years back but I miss it often!
I think a little bit of restoration work might have been done to the pocket but that's nothing of note. Bravo!
You are welcome! It's hard to keep the bricks-and-mortar shops going anymore. Too much overhead when millions of potential customers are online
