The Day The Stationwagon Went Do you remember those family drives where the kids jumped in the station-wagon and there were no seatbelts & the windows were down. Mom would want to stop at every yard sale before the main destination (though that may have been the point)and lunch would consist of freshly picked fruits and veggies along the way. The station-wagon could have been headed to the jockey lot that Saturday or to an unknown location for a family trip. Dad would pull apart the map while mom pointed out the directions and hopefully no arguments would ensue. The kids would fuss about who’s side was theirs and sticky candy would be traded for hot wheels. Maybe the day would end with spaghetti and meatballs or barbecued hot dogs and a cold pop & everyone out on the lake with dirty feet.
