Girl From Ipanema Goes Walking

When she passes each one she passes goes “ahhhhh” Ohhh how can I tell her I love her 🎶 The Italian Mediterranean collection, a 50s inspired minimalist approach. The Italian Mediterranean collection is actually inspired by two mediums, Ruth Orkin’s famous print “An American Girl in Italy”, one of my most favorite black and white prints & the beautiful bossa nova jazzy song, “The Girl from Ipanema” which is written by a couple of people. It was written in 1962, with music by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Portuguese lyrics by Vinícius de Moraes. English lyrics were written later by Norman Gimbel. To really enjoy, listen to the original track Astrud Gilberto, along with João Gilberto and Stan Getz's "The Girl from Ipanema" from Getz/Gilberto. Little did I realise how well the two coincide as the song was written and inspired by a young girl that would go walking every morning & was certainty enjoyed by all that would take notice. Ruth’s photo was actually a staged photo of her friends in case you wonder, as the photographer loved to set up scenes in favor of light and life, however she loved the story telling that would often take place in her imagery.
